Hi we are planning to go on a family ski holiday and we have a son who will be 3.5 years at the time. Will he be old enough to join ski school then?

l started when l was 6, but my friend started when she was 3, SO 3 1/2 should be fine.

It depends totally on the child. My daughter started when she was just under 3, & loved it. Other children l know have not taken to it until they turn 5, or even later.

Make sure that u give them good gear so they stay warm & dry. Get professional lessons from a a ski school that has properly trained instructors. The place my daughter started - Perisher Blue in Australia - has instructors that r qualified instructors AND qualified early child care people. Ask that question.

Remember - it is all about fun. If the child is not having fun make other arrangements.

That age is fine. You would not want much younger. But the kid might not take to it. So, like somebody mentioned, be prepared to leave them in daycare service.

Use the full day ski school so the kids can enjoy their day, & u can enjoy yours.

At that young age, there r two tools that a parent who takes their kid up the chair without ski school help will need:

1) an edgie-wedgie. Basically, they hold the tips together. Youngsters cannot do that on their own.

2) a racer chaser. Harness that attaches to a vest that the kid wears. The parent holds the rope to slow the kid, & control their speed.

You can google both of those if interested. l used to ski instruct, so l was able to teach my daughters using these tools. If u do not have the instructor experience, l highly recommend leaving that to the professionals.

most ski schools set a minimum age..5ish.. or has to be potty trained.

My kids started at that age as did I. Do not push them. If they want to quit after 2 runs, that is okay. Make it fun.

yes, you can go to ski school if you are potty trained usually, l started when l was 3 and my friend started when he was 2.i would definetley reccomed you start early because it will pay off.me and my friend are owning all the rest of our friends to this day!

My daughter started when she was four. She was fine, but l found it frustrating! l sent her to the ski school for lessons and bought one of those leashes that help you to control the child. Then l did not have to pick her up every couple minutes and that helped. But it was hard to get her to give up the leash because she liked to play Santa and the reindeer with it (me Santa, her reindeer)
