Depends on your co-ordination. If you are un co-ordinated take up snowboarding. It is easier. If you want to learn something a lot more difficult that takes years to master then take up skiing. (Got all you dark siders!! Ha-Ha!! Just kidding!)
Really, either is fun, just wear a helmet and proper protective gear and take lessons.

Skiing is easier to pick up the basics, and snowboarding is easier to progress and master. Skiing gives you more flexibility in terrain options, and is much more technical. It is much easier to get around in the backcountry and trees on skis than snowboards, but there is nothing like linking big GS turns on a snowboard. Both have their advantages, and both are extremely enjoyable. l do both, and ski probably 3 days for every one day on a board.

l would have to go with skiing. l do not like snowboarding because you constantly have to sit or stay on the edge.getting up after a fall is a literal pain in the azz (lol), and l do not know how to get through flats without ski poles. Finally, skiing looks much cooler and cuter for a girl and image is always important LOL.
