l snowboard at Hunter Mt. every year. Does anybody know when they are planned to open this year? l think maybe a little bit later then usual with this whole Global Warming crap and the warm weather. Or atleast when the are going to start making snow? Thank you for anybody that knows or lives in the area.

But l could not head to VT this year because my dad tore his ACL last year and is still recovering from surgery. But l got friends that live around the Hunter area so its all good.
l overall think Hunter is a better mountain then Windham. Plus l have so many memories there for 15 years. Love it there. Great learning center, good terrain, big mountain, friendly staff, decent terrain part, maintains conditions(for the most part).

Not probably till about november 25th or later. Its going to be tough this year around the Hunter area. Try going more north, like VT or if you can afford it, Quebec to Tremblant. They should be getting some snow fairly soon!

Well the mountain next to Hunter, Windham Mountain is TEN TIMES BETTER, but it is opening the weekend of December 3rd
Windham is about 7 minutes from Hunter and if you'd prefer a mountain with more class and better slopes you should try Windham.

As soon as it gets cold enough to make some ice, er l mean ''snow''. Which the way things r going right now does not look like that will be any time soon.

And Hayley O, while l agree with u in many respects about Windham, they simply do not have as much advanced terrain as Hunter.

For ''guys only'' trips, l recommend Hunter. Windham for couples & ''girls only'' trips.

That is not to say the girls can not rip with the guys, only that they tend to like the amenities (particularly restrooms) better at Windham. Even the men is rooms at Hunter leave something to be desired. It has to be one of the last places that has a ''trough'' style urinal. Hey buddy, watch where you're pointing that thing! YUCK!!!

There r no ''On Snow'' events planned until Dec.14. However Instructor Courses r not scheduled until Dec.6. IDK if that means they r not planning to open until they have the ski school staff trained, or if that means they will be open before that either just not offering ski lessons or just using only trained instructors until Dec.6? (Not that u need a lesson, l am just trying to gauge when they will be open.)

There is nothing on their websire about a firm opening date any earlier than Dec.13. The webcam shows NO SNOW! l have no idea what their schedule is, but the weather forecast suggests that there could be some good nights for snowmaking starting the 17th. If it stays cold like predicted (at night) for a week (like predicted) they could have the main slopes & Hunter One open before Thanksgiving. With not natural snow in the forecast, it will be sometime before they get things like K-27 & Hunter West open.

Early season in the Catskills is usually a big craps shoot. If u can sneak in some time in VT u might be better off.
