l do not think the problem will be so much with being ON the mountain. but getting up there might be a little tricky. Chair lifts can be a little scary even for those of us not afraid of heights. Take along a friends and give it a try anyway. you just my find it tolerable.

Well, l personally am afraid of heights, but l loved going skiing. When l was there, l went as a school field trip so we had to go through some training before we could go on the hills. The bunny slopes ar not that big. It is not like they go straight down or anything, it goes down gradually. l did not actually go on any of the bigger hills, but l think next time l will. l think u will enjoy, though l can not promise anything because everyone is different.
Hope that helped a bit.

you wont be affraid of skiing, its the lift. just dont look down and take deep breaths. once you at the top of the mountain goin down, hopefully youll forget the lift part and be fine from then on out.

you should be okay (i will spare you my awful experiences skiing)

but remember; there is always the cabin and hot chocolate! there is nothing better than being warm and toasty and watching people ski in the beautiful snow though a large window.

My friend was also afraid of heights, but she eventually got over the fear when she went on a roller coaster with a friend. And now she will do piratically anything that has heights now. So, l suggest that you should probably take a friend who is not afraid of heights to go skiing with you, that way you can have some encouragement. :) l hope that l at least helped a bit.

Does not sound stupid to me. l have the same fear of heights. Went skiing once. Did not think about the heights thing till l was on the ski lift, the fear was crippling. (no seat belts on the chair lift) Somehow l made it to the top, now l have to get down. Got myself to the edge to go down, OMG! Yep, l sat down on my skis and went down on my butt. That was the last time l went skiing.

l am anxious about heights, but a ski slope is never a problem, because you are on the ground/snow. Until you are an expert level skier, you will never notice any height beyond the top of your head. The bunny slopes are quite big in some areas and small in others. But all are like being on a football pitch or in your yard at home. Even a chair lift, will have a restraining bar for safety.

Well once your actually up there, l do not think it is a problem, it is not as high as you think it is. But you might have a problem with the lift. You do have a safety bar, but it is not tightly clasped around your waist like a roller coaster is. l personally love to look down at all the people. But if you're afraid of heights, l do not think looking down is a good idea.

Hope you enjoy it!

The slopes are not anything you'd be scared of because of a fear of heights. You might be afraid of the chair lift because that can go pretty high (depending on the slope your going to) and you have not got a seat belt, just a bar in front of you to rest your skii is on and to hold on to. The slopes are just like steep hills :). You will get more confident once you've got used to it and then you will want to go on the bigger slopes, trust me!

no! just go on the small slopes.
no need to go on the big ones because the smaller slopes are just as fun.
hope you have fun skiing
:)

Uhh..well l guess you could be afraid of the chairlifts but there is a bar (usually) or you could go on the gondola. Skiing is the shit, you should go.

The bunny slopes are legit slopes, you could walk to the top easily.

no, im extremely afraid of heights, but l love skiing. Even park skiing doesnt bother me, with doing jumps and such. so go skiing, and have a great time

l used to be afraid of heights and skiing helped a lot. The only thing that may not be good is looking out into the distance off the mountain to see how high you are on a slope. Also chair lifts may be a problem. l used to just close my eyes and sit in the middle on them and have someone tell me when we are there. But now l got over it and l love them! they are fun!

Your fear of heights should not be a factor while u r actually on the novice slopes. They r designed to be wide & have a very gentle & consistant incline for their entire length. If u can walk down a flight of stairs without being apprehesive, then the incline on a 'bunny slope' which is much less, should not trigger ur fear.

The only possible concern would be the chair lift ride which takes u to the top of the slope. Resorts r well aware that new snow sports participants may be a bit anxious while riding chair lifts. They try to factor this into the design. These lifts r usually a bit lower to the ground & have a fairly consistant distance from the ground for most of their length.

l strongly urge u to take lessons from a certified ski instructor, telling him/her of ur initial concerns. He/she will be able to assist on that very first chair lift ride by engaging ur attention & focus on them during the ride up the slope. By focusing on the people riding the chair with you, u will be distracted from the fact u r riding in the air. There will be a restraining bar in front of u to hold onto, although it is not like the chest bars used at amusement parks.

So just sit back on the chair lift & enjoy the company of ur fellow riders.

If u REALLY think this concern with heights might stop u for trying our wonderful sport, there is another option for u to get started. Many larger ski resorts offer an uphill system called a 'Magic Carpet' on part or all of their beginner teaching slope. This wonderful device is a conveyer belt on the snow. You just stand on as it takes u up the slope. You might want to check & make ur very first trip to a resort which offers this option for new skiers.

If u r willing to go on themepark rides which r high in the air despite ur basic fears, then u certaiinly r the type of person who would be considered adventurous. l think u will love skiing once u r exposed to it!

So please try it this Winter! Just remember to dress warmly in layers for the cold weather, go with friends since skiing is a very companionable sport, & above all else, take lessons from a professional instructor.
