l started skiing when l was 4 and did every winter until l was about 10. l stopped and last season l took up snowboarding. l wanna go back to skiing but l do not know where to start. I am pretty sure when l start again after a short time l will be pretty good again. I am 14 going to be 15 in March. l live in Connecticut and l will ski mostly groomed trails and l occasionally go to Vermont and ski there.

if your asking on what kind of brand you should buy, l have roxy skis and they are amazing but l also have rosignol or however you spell it, and you cant feel the defference, it reallly doesnt matter what kind! they are both really good skis to start out with
good luck ~

If l were you l would go to the ski shop and ask them if you can try a few different skis before you buy. Most ski shops and resorts have some sort of demo deal. Usually for the cost of rentals (or less) you can demo a set of skis and then apply the demo fee to your purchase if you find something you like.

l usually demo 4-5 different skis a season just for fun and so l know what is what. l do not think l would ever buy a ski again without trying it first.

Contact ur local demo shops & try several different pairs through the season, You might try to locate some of the skis that the local instructors r retiring. The new skis r generally sized to ur nose or a little taller if u r an experienced skier. At ur age, buying 5 cm long will not hamper ur skills a lot. As Willie D mentions, their r many demos & rentals to try. The tune of the ski will make a big difference in how they ski. It is critical that u know how u like them to perform. Also do u ski the groomers the steeps or the parks? this all makes a difference in what ski & what length u use. Have fun. Take a set of lessons to refresh ur skills on the skis vs snowboards.

it depends what you are into, terrain, carving, or just all mountain. so you have to think what you would be doing the most. l have race skis but l still hit up the terrain park sometimes.

I'd demo several brands and models. My first pair of skis were the old straight type, a pair of Salomon's. So when l moved to the new shaped skis, l naturally went for Salomon's, but was disappointed. l demoed several pair until l tried a pair of Volkl's, they were amazing. So l bought a pair.
