l race, and my feet are always cold. l do not know how to keep my feet warm with out putting more than 1 pair of sock on or using foot warmers. Which can ruin the way you ski. Any ideas? i use ski socks

Never use more than one pair of socks, loose the warmers, & never use cotton socks. When ur feet sweat, the cotton retains it & makes ur feet colder. Use ski socks which u can buy at sites like Sierra Trading Post & Backcountry, but basically any synthetic (non-cotton) sock will do. They're available in different weights, so l keep different weights for conditions. If u already use ski socks, try to find some in a bigger weight. If that dos not help, l would look at a new boot liner, or even a new boot.

When it is that cold, ur choice becomes more a matter of learn, but do not risk frost bite. Learn how to wear 2 thin pair of socks, & allow ur boots a little looser fit so u maintain circulation. The other things that contribute to cold feet is water. Snow will trap between the buckles of ur boots, then it melts & leaks in to ur boots through the overlap. Take some duct tape & cover the overlap seam & it will lessen the amount of snow melt u will get. The last thing is to have some hand warmers in ur ski bag. Put one in each boot before u leave for the area, stuff a sock in the boot collar this will give u at least an hour of warm feet at the start of every day. Keep them in ur coat pockets & put them back in ur boots at lunch. l always had cold wet feet until l started using the duct tape last season. That really did the job. Good luck.

DON'T use foot warmers! they make you sweat. Use good ski socks:thermals. As the first answer, NO COTON!

Dude, l used to race and with a race fit for your boots there is really only one thing you can do, do not wait your ski socks to the hill, put them on at the hill. if you have a tight race fit boot you wo not be able to get boot warmers in there, im sorry but when it comes down to it, if you want warm feet quite racing.

Yeah.race fitted boots generally are cold because they do not have much lining. You're gonna have to suck it up like everyone else says. Keep your head warm as much as you can, it will help and wear your shell pants and jacket when you are not on the course to create a dead-air zone over your racing suit.
You could try those neoprene boot covers as well. Some people swear by them but l have not used them.

One suggestion to try not wearing socks. l do it on only the coldest days (better circulation) but u will likely sweat & get wet & get cold feet after awhile & when it happens.consider that day done.
Never put on boots that r cold or wet to start with.
Be sure the boots r dry (Boot warmers?) Take out the liners at night. Check the shell to be sure it is dry before u put in the liner.
Try a ''Boot-glove'' at http://cozywinters.com/shop/bga.html & l think RE l has them as well (quick search boot-glove for more suppliers)
On cold days never drink something hot before u go into the cold..ice cream, cold water, cold anything. all help keep circulation to ur extremeties (feet & hands) stronger. Hot coco/ coffee etc. cause the body to retain core heat by constricting circulation to the extremeties (Warning: watch that ur 'core' temperature does not drop too much. If u start getting cold all over, go inside & have some hot coco.
Check that ur foot bed is not soft & padded. It feels comfy but can cut back circulation as well. See a good boot fitter.
Some race liners have less insulation/padding to get a closer fit to the shell. Many racers get a tight fit & sometimes boots that r a couple sizes small to get a more precise fit. They also unbuckle their boots whenever they can to let the blood in. They also spend a fortune (or sponsors do) on Cera F (very, very, very expensive wax add on) Unless u r & FIS racer or pro l would not go there. Get high performance boots that fit comfortably & on race day buckle em up tight.
.hey what ever works.. & cold feet/hands r as much fun skiing as it is in bed.

Start with dry boots. Use boot driers for skiing back to back days. Wear a thick wool hat on your head that covers your ears. Loosen boots in lift line, tighten boots after exiting lift at top. Make sure sock/longjohn interface is wrinkle free. Remove pressure points from boots by adjusting shell and liner. Wear a polar weight thermax union suit of longjohns under everything, if that is not enough wear two.
