So l have been in touch with different ski shops and have gotten two different .My Wife and l have the exact same size shoes and have a ten pound weight differential.So is it ok to swap skis with these similarities.Or how can l make it ok.

l do not think you would have a problem with switching of the skis but just to be on the safe side l wouldn't. If you are the same skill level then it would be alright but if you have second thoughts about it l wouldn't. Just in case her skis might have more wear and tear on them and a slight weight change might mess them up.

l would say yes only if you're taking them in to get the bindings readjusted. Better safe than sorry.

As a personal matter, l am of the opinion that a person should never loan his or her skis to another (even your wife). Once you have your bindings dialed in to your body weight and skiing style, do not mess with it. Its way to easy to get hurt skiing if you're not paying attention or if you're using the wrong equipment.

No its not ok. l work in a ski store and different boots have different size shells. Also you would need to reset your din. If you are at different levels you would not be able to use each others skis as a lot of skis have plates in them to make them go faster and it easier to turn.

You say u have the same shoe size, the only way to tell is try the boots in the other skis, if both fit, & the DIN settings r the same, then changing skis is not a problem. The shops will tell u otherwise for liability reasons. If the boots r the same length & the settings r the same, then the xchange is at ur own risk. l have & still do take that chance with some of my students so they can learn what the difference is between their rental skis & my pair that is tuned for medium to high performance. l only do this on a slope or portion of the slope where they will have next to no speed & can easily control what they r doing.
In the past l have loaned mine to a partner with the same size boot for a run or more but this is a risk that some instructors will take on their own. Have fun

Uhm, well, maybe. I've done this. Successfully. But l still do not recommend it. But then probably u have not taken really good care of ur equipment just like ur friend, so what is the issue? Either set of skis is a broken leg waiting to happen, right? So why not?

That is my pitch for taking care of ur equipment by tuning ur skis regularly & having the bindings tested at least once a year. If both u & the other person have the same size feet, use the same DIN setting on the binding AND have had the bindings tested within the past year, then it is no different than trying a pair of rental skis.
