How long might it take to learn?

it takes as long as you want it to take
if its something that you really want then it might not take that long but if its something you're doing just to say that you can do it than it can take forever!

No, absolutely not. My father learned to ski at age 31 so twelve is not that much of a big deal. you can get the hang of skiing in a day or so.

l learned to ski when l was 12 as well and l was doing diamnonds in about 3 hours. im not exagerating at all. skiing is really easy. snowboarding will take a lot longer to master (im talking weeks)

l teach all levels of skiers every year. They are your age, younger and much older when they start. Some as old as 80. All had fun, and learned to ski. Some better than others. Typical learning is 1st day may ride a chair, 2nd day ski the chair during the lesson. From then on you need to keep taking lessons to get better. The more you ski the better you get, the instructor can and does teach you many things besides how to go down the hill. Have fun, enjoy the sport.

def. not, l learned wen l was about 7 but most of my friends started around 12yrs old. all u have to do is practice n be fit enough or else wen u get to the big fun ones, its gonna hurt big time

It depends on how much you like it and what other sports you do.
You also have to grasp the concept of turns (sounds easy, but you have to push the opposite foot.) You should also get a good instructor, preferably a family member who you wo not be so embarassed around.

One is never too old to learn the greatest and most exciting thing on the planet. The more lessons you take, the better. It is a really enjoyable experience, and it is packed with fun.
