That depends. If your skiing or snowboarding in jeans, everyone will think you are a mentally challenged tourist. Other than that, people wear jeans when in snow when they are not doing winter sports.

dont wear jeans if you plan on ''playing in the snow''. it makes for soaked,
heavy pants. Not to mention very cold. Not warm at all.

For going out and social activities, yes Jeans are more than fine. For skiing? no. That is how people skied before. WAY before.

Jeans are made of cotton, it gets very cold when it gets wet and that will happen all the time when you are skiing. Wear a wool nylon blend that will repel the water and keep you dry and warm.

There is a company (O'Neill, l think) that makes a sillicone-impregnated jean-snowpant product. Water just rolls off of them. l know a couple of guys who wear them with flourescent jackets & then shock the shit out of people who think that what they wear makes them a better skier.
