(or people accidentally taking the wrong skis)

My question is, should you write your name on your skis? If so, where on the ski, how? l do not wanna write it and it just rubs off or l could never take it off. Will l ruin them?

By the way this is just leaving them outside the lodge to warm up, not long period of time.

you can do two things. First of all, you can have you name engraved on them, or at least your initials. that works better than writing.

Second, you can buy a lock, to lock them to a ski rack so they are not stolen. try a combination lock so you do not have to carry a key. Like this one maybe.

Dude, l do this all the time, split the skis up and put them so you can only see the bottoms, so nobody will bother with them. Never had a problem in 17 years of skiing.

Use the ski check, as a first line of defense, second line is have a pair no one else wants, third a lock & a chain to a solid object. Ski theft is much less of a problem now than 20 years ago. At least in my region. Now snowboards r the hot item. As to the lock & chain, a 3' chain & a small luggage padlock will do the job. It was marketed 20 years ago as a ''pocket lock it''. l have not seen any in several years.
l do write my initials as a brand with a large permanent marker on the shovel top where it can be seen. The mark is distinctive & prevents mistakes.

One thing my buddies and l do is trade one ski with each of us ( l give a ski to one friend, he gives one to another and so on) then when we put them in the snow we all separate and stick them in the snow. No one is going to steal a pair of skis that do not match! When we finish lunch we get back together again to get our own ski back.

Just Kidding you should use the ski check get a lock trade a single ski with a buddy split you skis up or you can bring them to your car if your REALLY worried about them.
