Wear layers: silk, polyester or other synthetic layer (to wick moisture away from ur skin) as the first layer & then layers of wool or synthetics (not cotton, which does not insulate when wet). Top layer should be windproof or waterproof or both.
If it is really cold put thermals next to the base layer.
One pair of non-cotton extra-long socks & do not put anything else in ur boot except ur feet & ur socks (do not stuff ur pants or other layers in there), or it will hurt. a lot.

It depends on your level of skill at skiing. If you fall a lot, you need nylon insulated clothing; keeps you dry and warm. If you do not fall, you can ski in jeans. Just be sure to wear thermals under them so you stay warm. Also, be sure to wear layers - depending on the weather, you can become quite warm from the exercise.

well im going skiing tomarrow. ill tell you what im wearing.

thermal shirt and pants.
2 warm shirts over that
pants
ski pants over that
a sweatshirt
a jacket
and then im also wearing
gloves (bringing an extra pair)
3 pairs of socks (maybe 2)
and a hat

hope this helps!
most importantly:
the thing that gets really cold are feet and hands!

look at any sports shop. invest in the stuff you wear under the ski clothes. dress in layers. Jan/Feb skiing is cold and you need insulated clothing. do not forget sunscreen, gloves, and goggles. the ski shop will rent you skis, poles, and helmet.

Two essentials are a good ski jacket with a powder skirt (most have them) and a pair of ski pants or salopets and layers etc but defnatly the jacket and salopets

l start with underarmour heatgear compression shorts & shirt for blood flow & support. Next l wear thermal under wear, adjust for temperature by choosing silkweight, medium weight, or heavyweight. The next layer is either a fleece shirt or a fleece jacket or both, depending on temperature. The top layer is a pair of insulated ski pants, a waterproof ski coat with a hood, that can range from an uninsulated shell to a down parka (warm to cold), a waterproof, insulated pair of gloves, a knit hat, a neck warmer or scarf, & a pair of goggles (very important). Each layer can be adjusted to the temperature through more or less insulation. One piece suits r difficult to get in & out of, & r more difficult to adjust for temperature differences.
