l have a job interview for a ski patrol position on a resort hill in Salt Lake City, but there is a Nordic Ski Patrol Group closer to where l live. Resort is pay, Nordic is volunteer, but i'm not worried about pay. Which one is more high-speed, harder, more action?

The two r like day & night, especially if one is a paying job.

Nordic patrol is only fun if u like XC skiing. Hauling a toboggan out of the woods on XCs is no picnic. An evac from the BC can literally take hours. (When l was SAR in the Rockies a ''short'' mission might be 3 or 4 hours.) As a volunteer, u can screw up with less legal consequences.

Alpine duty is faster, if u like DH skiing this is where to go. Plus they will pay you. Legally, u might have more responsibility as a paid patroller. You will see more action at the resort no doubt. If it has a terrain park, expect to get a call to respond at least once per shift. Also, gapers love to do stupid stuff in line. ''Hit By Chair/Improper Loading'' was often a complaint heard in the patrol shack. If u hear a lot of Texan accents in the lift line, count on a busy day.
