They are harder to control at higher speeds and until you learn how to really use the edges of skis, you should stay off the snowblades. If you can not do a linked parallel turn yet, snowblades are not for you. Try again when you can carve. Then you will see that they suck and go back to your skis.

When l started snow sports l spent half a day on skis, then changed to blades & never looked back. Yes, l did find them much easier, & u have to parrallel turn on them so they kinda make u progress quickly. Even when I've been back on skis l have never needed to snow-plough. If u ever went iceskating as a kid l am sure u will pick it up easily. Cos u progress quicker on blades u actually have a hellava lotta fun!! Plus if u buy them (cheaper than skis) & take them away with you, how much smaller & easier r they??!! And u do not twist ur knees so much when u crash. AND u do not have to be one of those idiots with poles that u do not know what to do with except point with them!!! So u r less of a danger to others (and their eyes!).
However, why not try snowboarding? Now that is what l call fun these days!!
Enjoy yourself!!

No. Regular skis are easier to turn because they are designed to be controlled. Skates or Blades are designed for trick park, short quick runs without controll needed (or at least control as alpine would demand) Your better off going to a shop and purchasing with the aid of a skilled salesman a pair of decent intermediate or beginner level skis that are sized correctly for you.

Hope this helps

They take less effort to turn and are so much shorter they seem to to be more like walking. The big disadvantage to them is the balance factor is very critical and they are only for groomers. Neither hard pack or deep snow, is what they should be used in.
l found an ad for them last month, $4.95 plus shipping. Circa 1960 l think.
